APXS: Alpha Particle X-Ray Spectrometer for the Mars Science Laboratory

Principal Investigator: Ralf Gellert, Max-Planck-Institute for Chemistry, Mainz, Germany

 

The 2009 MSL APXS will have advanced capabilities, beyond those of the APXS instrument currently on each of the two Mars Exploration Rovers. The APXS will be provided by the Canadian Space Agency.

 

MSL's APXS is located on the arm turret with many other instruments and tools.
