This is a panoramic view looking
back from where we started that morning. The base camp tents
are visible as little white specks near the beginning of the
zig-zagging Kvanefjeld road. That road ends at an abandoned uranium
mine.
Looking up behind the tents you can
see that the "sorensenite boulders" have fallen from
the dark gray heights of Kvanefjeld. The main road on the valley
floor continues going up and up to the lower reaches of Mt. Illimaussaq
itself. It was on that road near the white water rapids that
I discovered the "face rock". |
