Spring, 1998: On the left is Kirk Goodall, who was responsible for getting me to leave Marin County in the San Francisco Bay Area and come to Pasadena to work for the Mars Program. It was extremely cool to be hired by him to work for the Mars Pathfinder project. Kirk was the webmaster for Pathfinder and had become famous along with the highly popular Sojourner rover.

One of the first things I noticed about Kirk is that he almost always wears the coat he's wearing in the image above. Another is that he is always on the move - he seems to take off on a trip constantly. On one trip he suddenly decided to go skiing but hadn't brought any cold-weather gear so he just skiied in his usual outfit. He got someone to take these pics.
