| I discovered two large pieces of yellow
sodalite our night in Greenland, high up on Taseq East. The sodalite
fluoresces a blazing bright orange under longwave ultraviolet.
The response to shortwave is also remarkable - the yellow gemmy
part of the sodalite turns a deep shade of purple and remains
that way for about an hour. Then it returns to it's normal yellow
color. That phenomenon is called tenebrescence. I'll add some
"before and after" pictures soon. |
