Iceland from space
I had to fly to Iceland on an overnight
flight from Boston in order to catch a flight to Greenland. Iceland
is a very scenic place but the weather doesn't always cooperate.
In fact, that part of the North Atlantic is famous for it's bad
weather.
This was a return trip for me because
in August, 1976 I circled the entire country by rental car on
the formerly unpaved "ring road".
Four very large glaciers are visible
in this summertime view from space. There are also several jet
trails visible on the left side of the image and one fresh trail
appears to be traveling from the international airport at Keflavik
in the direction of Greenland. Even the jet's shadow is visible
which is remarkable considering that this picture was taken from
an orbiting spacecraft. |
