Besides the pieces shown here, I also
collected pieces of gemmy green sodalite on a very dark brown-black
matrix that contained the radioactive mineral steenstrupine.
We checked it with a geiger counter back at "the Rock Hut"
and sure enough it was! That was fun. Fortunately steenstrupine's
radioactivity is considered weak. Still, now that they're here
in California I am taking the proper precautions. |
