Emily and I met Fluorescent Mineral
Society member Roy Parsons while at the 3-Color Mine. Roy offered
to take us to a good collecting spot called the Bluebird Mine.
We took him up on the offer. Above: Roy getting ready to guide
us to the mine.
We had only hiked a short distance
when we arrived at the first stop:
The entrance to the Dona
Ana Mine
My former wife Emily, holding a light
while Roy Parsons works to collect fluorite from the side of
the mine. The fluorite he was digging out wasn't fluorescent
but instead was colored the same shade of purple as Welch's Grape
Juice - absolutely beautiful.
