Family outing at Mount Shuksan in the North Cascades

Mount Vernon was practically at the base of the North Cascades, where the Skagit River Valley reaches the sea. We could jump in the car and visit places like beautiful Mt. Shuksan fairly easily.

 
There are few places in the world that look as much like an artist's painting as this small lake below Mt. Shuksan.
