The Helphenstine (Helfenstein)
Family |
My Helfenstein ancestor was from
the Koblenz area of Germany. This part of Germany is named Rheinland-Pfalz
(Rhineland Palatinate).
The Counts of Helfenstein from Koblenz
were no relation to the perhaps more well-known Geislinger Counts
of Helfenstein. But both families were important in their time.
I've been told that some of them were bishops and priors of monasteries.
Some of the Koblenz Helfensteins fought in the Crusades to free
Jerusalem. |
