Spring, 1998: My first serious attempt to show what the Mars Surveyor 98 lander would look like. Incredibly, it is still in use here and there. This lander appears on a postage stamp issued by Palau.

I created this scene by fixing up an existing image of the land and then put it on a modified Viking 2 landscape. I added in the solar panels, improved the arm, camera mast and everything else I could, overlaying on top of the old image. The lander is sitting at a bad angle but it seemed OK at the time. I've learned so much since then!
